We set high expectations for our school to provide a quality, world-class education for all, therefore St Gabriel’s Church of England Academy’s broad and balanced curriculum is designed to be inspiring, challenging and inclusive to meet the needs of all pupils, enabling them to achieve their full potential and make great progress.
This is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum and includes the formal teaching of Phonics. Excellent educational visits and strong links with the community further enhance the curriculum.
With regard to core subjects, our English curriculum aims to create meaningful experiences using and responding to quality texts so that pupils view reading, writing, grammar, speaking and listening as fundamental and connected expressions of human communication; whilst our mathematics curriculum is designed to allow pupils to develop as fluent and confident problem solvers, applying their skills to new, interesting and relevant contexts.
Our unique position allows us to draw on our heritage as a site of global communication, providing incredible opportunities in the foundation subjects of Sciences, Humanities and Arts. St Gabriel’s will be maximising the use of Information Communication Technology to support learning and will ensure pupils receive a quality computing curriculum equipping them with the skills required for the future.
